Only
few companies can boast more than one century of successful
business. Pernigotti belongs to them.
In the middle of 19th century Stefano Pernigotti
opened in Piazza del Mercato (Market Place) in Novi
Ligure a grocery with colonial products, which very soon
became the most important of the town.
The 1st of June 1868 he decided to take into partnership his
son Francesco and established the “Stefano Pernigotti & son”,
one man business company which was not only a commercial
business but also a confectionery industry. At the beginning,
the production was restricted to the classic white
TORRONE (nougat), produced with honey, sugar, almonds,
hazelnuts and egg white. Afterwards they introduced soft
nougat, chocolate covered nougat, and chocolate nougat.
Later on they put besides the nougat products the chocolate
ones and in particular the production of GIANDUIOTTO,
typical Piedmont gianduia chocolate, for which they got in
1882 the right to show the sovereign flag on the logo of the
company as sign of high quality of the chocolate.
In 1936 they started the production of ice cream and pastry
raw-materials, due to the impressive increase of ice cream
demand; it meant a further expansion of the productive
plants of the company.
After the II World War the company re-started rapidly its
business and became a modern production plant, which
nowadays produces chocolate, Easter eggs, nougats, small
nougats, puddings and raw-materials for ice cream and pastry.
In 1995 Pernigotti became part of the Averna Group,
and expanded its commerce in more than 20 Countries
world-wide. |
